Overview
HotnSpicy ("we", "the app") helps you capture, organize, and cook recipes. This policy explains what we collect, how AI processing works, and the choices you have. We aim to collect as little as possible.
AI Processing & Third-Party Vendor
Core features use artificial intelligence. When you import a recipe from a photo or link, scan a plate, identify fridge ingredients, estimate nutrition, or generate a caption, the image and/or text you provide is transmitted to our external AI vendor, Google (Gemini), for live analysis. This transmission is required for those features to work. The AI vendor processes your content to return the structured result (ingredients, steps, nutrition, etc.). We do not use your content to train our own models, and we do not sell it.
What We Store
Recipes, shopping lists, meal plans, plate logs, and cookbooks you create are stored on your device. If you sign in with an email account, this data is also synced to our secure cloud so it is available across your devices. Your account is identified by your email address and an anonymous user id.
What We Do Not Collect
We do not collect your contacts, precise location, or browsing history. Photos you import are sent to the AI vendor for analysis and to our image host for display; we do not scan your photo library in the background.
Your Choices & Data Deletion
You can delete your account and all synced data at any time from Account → Delete account. This permanently removes your account and every recipe, shopping item, plate entry, and meal plan from our servers. You can also use the app without an account (guest mode), in which case your data stays only on your device.
Payments
Optional HotnSpicy Pro subscriptions are processed by Apple or Google via their app stores. We never see or store your payment card details.
